NEW DELHI: The two-day national executive meeting, jointly inaugurated by BJP President Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, is likely to set the agenda for upcoming assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
The BJP passed on Sunday a resolution reaffirming the party’s commitment to build “New India” by 2022, and said the Opposition has neither a leader nor a policy while PM Modi is the most popular leader in the country.
Union minister Prakash Javdekar said a lot of developmental work has been done in the last four years, and a New India will by formed by 2022.The minister said the BJP will win with an even bigger majority in 2019.
Javdaker also said, in the last four years the situation of internal security has improved significantly as compared to the previous regime.
Javadekar said, terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir has come down and the effect of Naxalism is also shrinking day by day.
On Saturday, Shah in his opening remarks highlighted the contribution of late PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee in building the party and the nation.
The meeting was earlier slated to be held in August but it was deferred due to poor health and subsequent death of Vajpayee.
The BJP president also spoke about Kerala floods and asked party workers to keep contributing for the rehabilitation. On National Register of Citizens (NRC), he said that the government is committed to implement it and it will not tolerate illegal infiltrations.
The BJP’s national executive meet holds significance as it is being held in the run-up to Assembly polls in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, the results of which will set the tone for the 2019 Lok Sabha election.
